It didn't take long for the fallout to begin after Gov. Steve Bullock announced he was going to seek the Democratic nomination in Montana's U.S. Senate race. Cora Neumann of Bozeman, who had raised $650,000 during her five-month campaign, withdrew from the race Monday. So did physicist and mathematician Mike Knoles of Bozeman.

Neumann said she was endorsing Bullock. Knoles said the race is too important to let his ego dictate decisions and that Sen. Steve Daines “must go.” Last week, John Seckinger of Bozeman said he was dropping out to endorse Bullock as speculation grew that Bullock was strongly considering a run.
