Daines Talks Sheehy’s Victory Over Tester and Future Plans
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - In our first conversation since the election, I spoke exclusively with now Senior Montana Senator Steve Daines about the election in general and Montana in particular.
Daines said the country was relieved after the election, especially after his fellow Republican colleague Tim Sheehy, defeated three-term incumbent Jon Tester.
“There was a collective sigh of relief from the American people to see this overwhelming victory of President Trump, not only winning a landslide in the Electoral College but winning the popular vote,” began Daines. “Then, of course, right in our backyard in Montana, Tim Sheehy’s significant and huge eight-point victory for that U.S. Senate seat that gave us the majority in the U.S. Senate.”
Daines was Proud of Tim Sheehy's Victory Over Jon Tester
Regarding his new junior Senator Tim Sheehy, Daines expressed his pride in Sheehy’s victory despite a withering negative campaign.
“He was just carpet bombed by Chuck Schumer and George Soros and these outside dark money groups,” he said. “It's just wonderful to see this convincing victory that Tim Sheehy had. I want to thank all the listeners who supported Tim Sheehy and we'll make sure he gets on the program here (in the U.S. Senate)."
A brand new department under President Trump will be the Department of Government Efficiency. Daines spoke with Elon Musk about the new entity.
Daines Referenced His Conversation With Elon Musk
“I was on the phone with Elon this weekend, and just think about the all-star team that President Trump has pulled together; literally the best and brightest in our nation, bringing in leaders from the private sector to sort out and lead and reduce the inefficiencies in the government bureaucracy,” he said.

Daines, the son of a U.S. Marine, supported President-Elect Trump’s pick of Pete Hegseth to lead the Defense Department.
“Fighting men and women don't want to worry about pronouns and gender issues,” he said. “They want to stay focused on being the best fighting force in the world and stay focused on our enemies to win any battle. This is the refreshing change you're going to see from President Trump, to clean out the military of these woke leaders, these woke generals, and get back to the mission of the US military of defending this great nation.”
