Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On February 24, 2025, a Missoula Police Department Officer responded to a business in the 2600 block of Industry Rd. for a report of a vehicle break in that had previously occurred. Upon arrival, the officer was informed by an employee that the business’ video surveillance showed two trucks coming to the business.

One of the trucks was described as a Toyota Tundra with two different wheels. The employee provided the license plate number to 911. The officer found the license plate number returned to a woman who has been involved in recent law enforcement contacts with 33-year-old Ted Hurley.

Later that day, the officer observed a silver Toyota Tundra with two different wheels parked in the parking lot at 2210 Mullan Road. The officer approached the vehicle and found it occupied by Hurley. The officer asked Hurley to exit the vehicle and speak in her patrol car.

The officer explained to Hurley the reason for the contact and Hurley stated he never touched the “FedEx rig”. However, Hurley did admit to stealing the fender from the truck. Hurley stated he thought the vehicle was abandoned, so he thought it would be ok to take the fender.

The officer made contact with an employee from Auto Medics who informed her that the fender, a headlight, radio equipment, and the heating/cooling system had been taken from the truck. The officer reviewed the video provided to her, which showed Hurley taking the fender and the headlight.

The officer asked Hurley for consent to search his vehicle and Hurley allowed the search. Under the driver’s seat, the officer found a small plastic baggie with a clear substance that the officer recognized as methamphetamine. The suspected methamphetamine was later tested using the TruNarc, which returned a presumptive positive form of methamphetamine.

Hurley was placed under arrest and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. He is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
