Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Early in the morning on March 29, 2025, Missoula Police Department officers were dispatched to a stabbing near O’Shaughnesy and Flanigan Street. Police learned that four friends were socializing and drinking downtown. 26-year-old Eva Smith got extremely intoxicated and was kicked out of the Bodega Bar.

The other women were Jane Doe 1, Jane Doe 2, and Jane Doe 3. Jane Doe 1 was sober and was the designated driver. Jane Doe 2 was the complainant. She was the victim of a physical assault and had a bite mark. Jane Doe 3 was the victim of a stabbing.

While Jane Doe 1 was driving Smith home, Smith was belligerent and was trying to climb into the front seat and interfere with Jane Doe 1 while she was driving. Jane Doe 2 had to grab and restrain Smith on the car ride. Then, Smith allegedly hit and bit Jane Doe 2.

When they got to Smith’s home, Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 3 escorted her inside and put her to bed on a couch. Jane Doe 2 was trying to distance herself and walked away. Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 3 left the home and got back in the car, looking for Jane Doe 2.

Jane Doe 3 noticed Smith back at the door, so she went to help her get back inside the home. Unbeknownst to Jane Doe 3, Smith had armed herself with a 12-inch kitchen knife and without warning, stabbed Jane Doe 3 in the upper chest pectoral area. Jane Doe 3 punched her, pushed her down, and threw the knife in the street.

When police arrived, Smith was in a car. She eventually complied with instructions and was detained. A knife was found on the ground with blood on it. An officer said Smith was extremely intoxicated. According to court documents, Smith claimed she was beat up and was not clear in her recollection of events.
