Missoula Realtors Help Homeowners and Renters With Storm Damage
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - The Missoula Organization of Realtors has partnered with the National Association of Realtors and the Realtors Relief Foundation to provide some financial assistance to homeowners and renters who experienced damage from the July 24 windstorm.
At a press briefing, Brint Wahlberg, President of the Missoula Organization of Realtors and CEO Jim Bachand told reporters about the relief funding.
Funds are Available Through the National Association of Realtors
“The Missoula Organization of Realtors has received grant funds through the Realtor Relief Foundation, which is an entity through the National Association of Realtors that is meant to help homeowners and renters in the wake of the weather disaster that we had a couple of weeks ago,” began Wahlberg.
He then provided basic information about the help available through the realtor's associations.
Up to $2,000 of Relief Assistance is Available through the Program
“There are funds available for homeowners with their primary residence or to renters that have had property damage or displacement due to the storm,” he said. “It's a little offset of some funds to help people out as they're going through these times as they put their household back together, or just deal with the challenges they had in the wake of the storm.”
Bachand had more detailed information for those looking for assistance.
“Part of the application will ask homeowners who are impacted again, for their primary residence, to provide information about the damages that they had, such as providing pictures, so that there's proof of the damages,” said Bachand. “The way that this fund is connected for funding is related to someone's mortgage, so the maximum amount eligible for any single applicant for a household is $2,000.”
Assistance is also Available to Missoula Renters
Bachand provided information specifically for storm-damaged renters.
“If you're a renter and you're displaced, we would ask for some proof of the displacement, and maybe a copy or a letter from your landlord or property manager, just to verify that,” he said. “This is one of many disasters that the Realtor Relief Foundation is supporting throughout the nation. So you can imagine right now, the queue is a little long. We will do our best to process applications as quickly as possible. In the worst case, it will probably take up to two weeks for funds to get directly dispersed out to property owners.”
