
Man Steals From Home Depot, Caught With Drugs in Missoula
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On June 16, 2026, 30-year-old Hagen Daniels entered and exited Home Depot located in the 2700 block of Radio Way. During Daniels’s first visit to Home Depot, Daniels took physical control of a Milwaukee Hammer Drill valued at $399.00 and a Milwaukee Portable Inflator tool valued at $139.00.
Daniels exited the store with the items without paying for them. He placed the items in a Toyota Corolla. The items were later recovered by the Missoula Police Department. Daniels admitted to an officer under Miranda that he took the tools without paying for them.
During Daniels’s second visit to Home Depot, Daniels placed merchandise in a shopping cart valued at $1,370.95. Daniels placed the shopping cart near an exit door. When Daniels noticed security paying attention to him, he fled through the exit door. Daniels later admitted under Miranda that he developed a “bad feeling” and decided to “abort mission.”

Officers detained Daniels during their theft investigation. Daniels provided an officer with a false name, identifying himself as “Justin Ready.” Officers looked at previous photographs of Daniels to confirm his identity.
Officers later searched a vehicle Daniels controlled and operated. In addition to the stolen items Daniels took from Home Depot during his first entry and completed theft, officers located the following contraband:
- Officers located a tooter straw commonly used to smoke fentanyl in the center storage area of the vehicle.
- Officers located a small black duffel bag in the backseat of the vehicle.
- A glass smoking pipe commonly used to introduce methamphetamine into the body was located inside the duffel bag.
- A second glass smoking device was located in another side pocket of the duffel bag. The glass smoking pipe contained white residue.
- Officers located a wooden box inside the duffel bag. The duffel bag was labeled, “Book of Sins.” Officers located a small zip-lock style baggie with a white crystalline substance that was presumptively confirmed to be methamphetamine.

According to court documents, the suspected methamphetamine weighed 3.23 grams. Daniels was arrested and transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. He is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs, theft, attempted theft, obstructing a peace officer, and three counts of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $25,000.
