On Saturday evening, February 11, Missoula Police were called out to a home on Latimer Street after hearing reports of a violent domestic dispute. Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

"When they arrived they were able to determine that the male and the female were not only having a relationship, but had also been living together for a couple months. Police discovered a female that had apparent injuries to her forehead as well as some minor abrasion scratches around the top of her chest and her throat area."

The possible  injuries were significant enough to warrant felony charges.

"The female reported that the male had headbutted her, causing the contusion on her forehead, and also that he had grasped her throat with two hands and attempted to strangle her," Welsh said. "That male has been identified as 30-year-old Jay Kelso, who has been arrested."

Kelso is currently being held on a charge of aggravated assault and a charge of partner or family member assault. According to Welsh, the fight began over accusations of deception.
