A new assessment of states’ progress toward offering after-school programs to all children finds that Montana is lagging behind most other states.  VP for the Afterschool Alliance Ursula Helminski says Montana is one of just 21 states to receive a 1 or 2 in the 2011 state-by-state after-school progress report and consumer guide. More than 15 million children are unsupervised each day,  after the school day ends.

My interview with Helminski is attached below.

The Flagship Program , in Missoula , will be having the 12th annual Lights on Afterschool rally, in conjunction with the Afterschool Alliance,  to create awareness about afterschool programming.  Missoula’s rally will happen Monday the 24th  on the Higgins Street Bridge from 3:30 until 5:00 p.m.
