The Secretary Of State And The Legislature Are Miles Apart On Employee Salaries

The sponsor of a bill to rollback state employee salaries 5%, to 2005 levels, Representative Wayne Stahl, asked that the bill be tabled, in committee. The debate on the issue became heated in Helena. Representative Stahl says he was trying to get information, and had been unable to do so, so he introduced the bill. Secretary of State Linda Mcculloch is concerned that powers are being abused.

Representative Stahl was greatly upset by Secretary of State’s remarks.

He said that he was looking for a way to increase state salaries at the lower end of the pay scale, and targeted those at the upper end. 

 The bill has been tabled.
