As communities across Montana deal with widespread flooding…Senator Jon Tester, today, pressed the head of FEMA on the status of a federal disaster declaration for the state. Governor Brian Schweitzer requested the declaration on June 1st. A Presidential Disaster Declaration would open up resources for communities facing widespread flooding. Tester pushed FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate  for an idea on when that declaration might come.

Tester used a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing to highlight how dramatic cuts made to emergency responders by the House of Representatives could impact Montana communities facing widespread flooding.
