Subdivision Law Clarified
Attorney General Steve Bullock has ruled that Montana's subdivision review law applies to all potential uses of a subdivision, not just those of a residential nature. Although, the current language of the law includes exemptions for the sale, rent, or lease of multiple parts of a building, Bullock's opinion clarifies that the exemptions are only good for a single building, not for multiple buildings. This ruling closes up what the Attorney General considers a sizable loophole in local subdivision review.
