Newstalk KGVO won two major awards over the weekend at the Montana Broadcasters Association Awards ceremony in Whitefish.
KGVO's Montana Morning was named Montana's best radio newscast, while Peter Christian's coverage of the undercover drug sting shooting incident on Thanksgiving weekend of 2013 was chosen as the state's best news story.
Talk Back, KGVO's on-air talk show, produced by Jon King, was the runner-up to another Town Square Media station in Billings for commercial radio program of the year.
During his acceptance speech at the banquet held at the Grouse Mountain Lodge, Christian praised the teamwork of Jon King and Sarah Yovetich in getting the story both on the air and on-line on Newstalkkgvo.com and on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
Also of note from Missoula, NBC Montana's Heidi Meili was named the television broadcaster of the year, while Dan Boyce with KUFM received the award for non-commercial radio program of the year. Brian Lee of Missoula won two awards, as well, for best radio public service announcement and best radio station promotion.
