Congressman Steve Daines announced late Thursday, August 8, that he had been appointment to be the Vice Chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Oversight and Management Efficiency.

Daines will serve alongside committee chair Rep. Jeff Duncan of South Carolina. As Vice Chairman, Daines will help guide the committee’s oversight of the Department of Homeland Security and attempt to improve the department’s efficiency and transparency.

Daines said he looks forward to “fighting for greater transparency and accountability in Washington and working toward reforms that ensure the Department of Homeland Security is fulfilling its duty to keep our borders secure and the American people safe.”

Daines also serves on the Homeland Security Subcommittees on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection, as well as the House Committees on Natural Resources and Transportation and Infrastructure.
