Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On October 11, 2025, a Montana Highway Patrol Trooper was patrolling southbound on US 93 N in Missoula County when he observed a Chevy SUV drift across the yellow center line twice. The SUV then turned east onto Sixth Street. The trooper initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be 40-year-old Ashley Brown.

While speaking with Brown, the trooper identified a strong odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle and further noticed Brown’s eyes were extremely moist, to the point of appearing watery. The trooper found Brown to be slurring some of her words slightly as she spoke.

According to court documents, Brown admitted to drinking one White Claw earlier in the day but denied being impaired. Prior to asking Brown to participate in the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), the trooper asked Brown to count backward from 69 to 54, first ensuring Brown understood the instructions. Once Brown started, she could not properly complete the request, stating she couldn’t really remember what the trooper had told her to do.

The trooper asked Brown if she had any medical issues, and Brown said she did not. The trooper then instructed Brown on the SFSTs, where he observed the following indicators of impairment: 6/6 HGN, 7/8 Walk and Turn, and 2/4 One Leg Stand.

Brown was read the Montana PAST Advisory and provided a PBT of .168. Brown was then read Implied Consent and agreed to submit to a blood test. Brown was transported to St. Patrick Hospital, where a blood draw was conducted. Brown has three prior DUI convictions.
