Attempted Kidnapping Suspect Caught
UPDATE 8/4/2017: Brian Young was apprehended overnight in nearby Mineral County, more details about the case will be posted here when available.
ORIGINAL STORY 8/3/2017: Missoula Police are actively searching for a man who allegedly attempted to kidnap a woman outside of a casino located in the 2200 block of Brooks Street. The incident occurred early Thursday morning and Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh says officers were called to the report of a disturbance involving a man with a knife.
“The suspect was identified as 45-year-old Brian Young,” Welsh said. “The officers also discovered that he had fled prior to their arrival, but they did make contact with a female who reported that he had attempted to abduct her before two other male customers came out of the casino and caused him to flee.”
When the two male customers came outside, young sprayed them with a can of bear spray. Welsh says this gave the female victim an opportunity to get away.
“She was able to get back into the casino where she waited until officers arrived,” Welsh said. “Mr Young is believed to have left in a 1994 Toyota 4-Runner that is Maroon in color and bearing Mt. License #472951A.”
Welsh asks that folks do not approach Young because he is armed and dangerous. If you see Young or know where he might be, police ask that you call 9-1-1 immediately.
