Missoula Crime Report: Couple Charged With Killing Eight Puppies

The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed 17 new criminal complaints this week. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, seven of those cases involved some form of violence.

“In one of the PFMA cases, the victim called on her brother,” Pabst said. “There was a physical disturbance and then the defendant allegedly struck her and bit her finger when she tried to intervene. There was an assault on a minor case in which the allegation is that a 21-year-old threw a rock at a 9-year-old boy, hit him in the head, and caused injury.”

In addition, Pabst said there were two cruelty to animal complaints filed against a husband and a wife.

“The incident occurred back in November,” Pabst said. “The investigation was wrapped up and we filed it recently. The allegation is that 12 dogs, including two adults and 10 puppies, didn’t have water, had no shelter from the cold, were covered in their own waste, and sadly eight of the 10 puppies allegedly died of parvo.”

Pabst said her office also charged a handful of endangerment crimes as well.

“We charged a felony DUI,” Pabst said. “That defendant allegedly ran into a parked car on Expressway. We charged an assault on a peace officer. We charged an arson case as well as two criminal endangerment counts. In that case, the allegation is that the defendant allegedly started a fire in the eastbound lanes of I-90 and threw items at the windshield of a passing vehicle.”
