Madison County officials say a man is missing after his raft overturned on the Big Hole River.

The raft overturned near the Big Hole Ranch between Melrose and Browne's Bridge. Two men were thrown into the water at 11:15 a.m. Thursday and one made it safely to shore. The missing man is believed to have been wearing a life jacket.

The river was running at about 7,000 cubic feet per second, about 2.5 times the average flow for this time of year.

Officials with the Madison County sheriff's office, Beaverhead County Search and Rescue and the U.S. Forest Service are looking for the man with the aid of an airplane. The missing man's name and hometown have not been released.
