KYSSMASS for Kids Will Take Nearly 800 Kids Shopping for Xmas
It was a great day for disadvantaged kids on Friday, as KYSS-FM conducted their annual KYSSMAS for Kids all day on-air and on-line auction.
Hundreds of listeners and online viewers took part according to Townsquare Media Missoula Digital Managing Editor Tan Curtis.
“We had our annual telethon day, and the community gave back,” said a tired but happy Curtis after the event closed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. “We had lots of really wonderful donors, a lot of auction items that went for big money, and all of it going back to local kids.”
Curtis said the event features the best of live radio and the online social media component to raise money for kids for Christmas.
“We had all of our listings up online and had people checking out all the gift baskets and trying to make it as easy as possible for people to know what they were bidding on,” he said. And, how much did KYSS for Kids raise this year? “Things are still trickling in, but as of right now, (Monday, December 3 at 10:00 a.m.) I’m comfortable in saying that we raised at least $37,000 this year for the children.”
With each child specially chosen by various social service organizations throughout western Montana, somewhere between 700 and 800 children will each receive a $50 gift card at a super-secret shopping location sometime between now and Christmas Eve.
Thanks again to all the volunteers who helped out at the radio station and to the generous merchants who donated the hundreds of auction items for making the 2018 KYSS for Kids a successful event.
