Glimpse of Winter: Montana May See Snowflakes In The Forecast

We are fully in fall and if you have seen the leaves changing colors and have seen the sun setting earlier each day then you know the season has changed. In terms of the weather, it hasn't really felt like fall. Temperatures across the state have been, for the most part, above average so far in October. We have also seen our share of smoke in the valleys from fires that continue to burn in the west. The weather may be about to change soon.

We may actually get a taste of Autumn weather coming into Montana next week. The forecast is to go from above average temperatures to more like the average temps we have this time of year, and there is also a possibility of snow in the forecast too according to the National Weather Service.

Montana's Long-Range Winter Forecast

There have been multiple long-range forecasts for Montana that are calling for above average snowfall and below average temperatures for Montana this winter, including from the National Weather Service.

Most of the temperature change is expected to be focused in Western Montana, the eastern part of the state looks to continue with the above average temperatures. The forecast also calls for a chance of snow showers above 5000 ft.

Normally Montana's fire season doesn't end until we get a "season ending weather event", hopefully this can be the event we need to finally end the fire season and start looking forward to ski/board season in Montana.
