Big Dipper Is Getting Into the Coffee Business in Missoula

Big Dipper Ice Cream has announced that it's expanding into the coffee business with a new coffee shop at its Paxson Plaza location.

The announcement about CONEBOY Coffee came through Big Dipper's social media, and the concept will feature locally roasted coffee, espresso, and specialty drinks. 

Big Dipper's Legacy in Missoula

Big Dipper has been part of the Missoula food scene since 1995, and its Paxson Plaza location was the company's second Missoula shop.   

Now it's adding another reason to stop by.  

The changes at Paxson Plaza have been noticeable.  

Double K Ranch Deli and Restaurant has expanded its space and menu, turning what started as a small deli into an even bigger destination for breakfast burritos, smashburgers and more.   

Gather at Dram Shop and More

You've also got the Dram Shop, Big Dipper and other businesses helping bring people into the area.  

Heelside Boards: A New Wave of Business

Then there's Heelside Boards, which recently opened, bringing another new type of business to the Southside with a focus on boards and watersports.  

So the personality of Paxson Plaza has definitely changed.  

Now imagine what it's going to smell like.  

You've got the beer from the Dram Shop.  

You've got those burgers and fries coming out of Double K Ranch Deli.  

You've got the smell of freshly made waffle cones and ice cream from Big Dipper.  

Now we're adding fresh coffee and espresso to the mix.  

That's a pretty good combination.  

A Neighborhood Hub: More Than Just Shopping

What's interesting about Paxson Plaza is that this doesn't feel like one giant redevelopment project.  

It's more of a gradual evolution.  

One business moves in. Another expands. Something new opens. Suddenly, a shopping center that may not have been on your radar a few years ago becomes a place where you can grab lunch, coffee, a beer, ice cream, and do some shopping all in the same general area.

Central Location: A Neighborhood Feel in Missoula

Paxson Plaza was already positioned near Southgate Mall and the AMC theater, but the collection of local businesses there has given the area more of a neighborhood feel.   

Now Big Dipper is giving Missoula one more reason to make the trip.  

Honestly, I'm not sure Missoula needed another reason to consume caffeine and sugar, but I'm certainly not going to complain.
