Cupbop Korean BBQ Could Be Opening in Missoula

As a "foodie," I can say that I am excited for news about a fast-growing food chain that specializes in Korean BBQ served in cups. Cupbop has locations in several states, including Montana. The company recently filed for a building permit in Missoula, which indicates that a local location will soon follow.

Cupbop Has Been Growing For Some Time

If you haven’t heard of Cupbop before, you should recognize the name by now. They were featured on an episode of SHARK TANK. It’s been growing across the country. In fact, Cupbop has established a spot in both Billings and Helena. If everything goes according to plan, Missoula could become Cupbop’s newest stop.

This Is One Restaurant That Actually Sounds Exciting To Me

Although I’ve never tried Cupbop myself, I am extremely curious about it. After checking out the website and drooling over some of their menu items, I think I would really enjoy eating here. I mean, c'mon, it is Korean BBQ for people on-the-go. Think the popular Missoula staple, Five On Black, but with kimchi.

What is Cupbop All About?

The business model of Cupbop started back in 2013. Founder Jung Song initially created Cupbop as a food truck with the goal of exposing people to Korean cuisine. Since then, the brand has grown from just trucks into restaurants. It is a quick-service type Korean BBQ. You choose your base (rice or noodles), add vegetables, select a meat or vegan alternative, and pick your level of spiciness.

Choices on the Menu

Signature bowls have rice and/or noodles topped with vegetable toppings of your choice and cooked meat or a vegetarian alternative. Some of the options available for meat include bulgogi beef, Korean fried chicken, spicy pork, and vegetarian options. They even offer fried mandoo dumplings, japchae noodles, and Korean wings.

If you’re not afraid to try hot dishes, Cupbop has a heat scale to show just how hot things can get. So if you don't mind heat, you can crank it up as hot as you need.
