Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On May 15, 2026, Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a disorderly conduct call at the Spurgin Ballpark. A deputy was informed via dispatch that the reported male, later identified as 44-year-old Michael Zinn, had left the area in a blue Kia and was driving north on Tower Street. Dispatch informed the Deputies that Zinn was in his 40’s, wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt and blue shorts, was possibly intoxicated, and had been yelling at parents at the game and had jumped into the dugout.

The other deputy spoke with the 911 caller and two witnesses. The deputy was informed that Zinn was yelling and cursing at kids playing baseball and that Zinn had been confronted and began getting into people’s faces and being confrontational. It was further reported that Zinn had opened a gate with such force that he broke the hinges. Zinn then left when asked.

A deputy located the Kia Sedona at the intersection of Tower and 3rd Street. The deputy ran the license plate and found it had been returned to another Zinn. The deputy observed Zinn take a right on Stone Street and exit the vehicle. The deputy instructed Zinn to come to his patrol car. Zinn provided his identification.

The deputy noted Zinn had slurred speech and appeared agitated. Zinn confirmed that he had come from his child’s baseball game, and he alluded to being in a disturbance with another male at the game. Zinn stated he was trying to motivate the kids and instill discipline in them so that they could go on to win.

The deputy noted Zinn had stains on his shirt, his eyes appeared watery, and Zinn had mood swings. Zinn initially stated his friend lived at the address he stopped at, but later admitted he was trying to evade the deputy and that his friend does not live at the address. Zinn stated he was suspended for a prior DUI. The deputy was informed that Zinn was in fact suspended and was on probation.

Sobriety Testing: The Evidence Accumulates

Zinn denied drinking. The deputy instructed Zinn in the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and observed 6/6 indicators on HGN, 3/8 on the walk and turn, and 2/4 on the one leg stand. The deputy spoke with the on-call probation officer, who requested that Zinn be placed on a three-day hold for anything above a 0.00 BAC. The deputy read Zinn the PAST Advisory, and he agreed to provide a sample, which indicated a .108 BAC.

Prior to providing the sample, court documents indicate Zinn admitted to drinking some beers earlier in the day. Zinn was placed under arrest and was read the Implied Consent Advisory. Zinn agreed to provide a breath sample, which indicated .101 BAC.
