The recently passed federal budget has drastically cut funds for the  Senior Community Service Employment Program. Which helps  tens of thousands of older, low-income workers. This program is provided through experience works, the nation’s largest nonprofit training and employment  organization for older workers. In Montana,  funding has been cut by 45%. The cuts are  expected to happen in July. Coordinator for Experience Works, Russ Johnson explains  the impact of these cuts.

Experience Works’ mission is to improve the lives of low-income  older people through employment, community service and training.  Johnson says the cuts have forced them to decrease the number of work hours available to program participants.
