Felony DUI Arrest Near a Missoula Fire Station
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On February 27, 2026, at approximately 10:11 p.m., a Missoula Police Department Officer was patrolling some apartments on Broadway Avenue. The officer observed a blue GMC Sierra engage in numerous irregular driving behaviors and lane position irregularities. Given these behaviors, the officer initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle, believing the driver was either intoxicated or clearly distracted.
While conducting the stop, the driver pulled into the Missoula Fire Department station entrance doors behind the trucks before stopping. The officer requested the driver exit the vehicle due to safety concerns about where the driver ultimately stopped. The driver, later identified as 25-year-old Shawn Lamere, exited the vehicle. While exiting, the officer observed Lamere stagger and pull his pants up. While speaking to Lamere, the officer observed his eyes were glossy with thin lines of reddening. The officer also smelled an alcoholic odor coming from Lamere’s breath.
Another officer arrived on scene, and it was determined that Lamere would conduct the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Lamere indicated six out of six clues for impairment on the HGN Test, three out of eight clues for impairment on the Walk and Turn Test, and two out of four clues of impairment on the One Leg Stand Test. Lamere was read the Preliminary Alcohol Screening Test and agreed to give a breath sample. Lamere’s sample resulted in a PBT over the legal limit. Lamere was placed under arrest.

While being placed in handcuffs, the officer observed a wristband on Lamere’s wrist consistent with wristbands given to patrons at businesses selling alcohol. Lamere was read the Implied Consent Advisory and agreed to provide a breath sample. Lamere was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility and tested on the Intoxilyzer. The driver had a 0.202 BrAC.
It was also determined from the investigation that Lamere’s driver’s license was suspended, and he did not have insurance. A criminal history check also revealed that Lamere has three prior convictions for DUI. Lamere also had a prior conviction for operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance.
