Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On April 17, 2025, at a little after 6:50 a.m., a Missoula Police Department Officer responded to a motor vehicle crash on Southwest Higgins Ave. Upon arrival, the officer observed a van facing the wrong direction into oncoming traffic, and it was leaking oil. Skid marks started approximately 282 feet from where the van came to rest. The airbags inside the van were also deployed.

Medical professionals treated the driver, identified as 61-year-old Alane Durr, for her injuries. She informed them that she drank wine and “shots” at a party last night. Durr could not stand straight and had a heavily slurred speech. Then she was transported to the hospital.

At the hospital, Durr informed the officer that she had consumed wine and an airplane shot of vodka the prior evening at a friend’s BBQ. Durr allowed the officer to conduct the HGN test. He observed 6 out of 6 clues of impairment. He also observed vertical nystagmus.

The officer also noted that Durr continued to fall asleep throughout the test. Durr provided a breath sample on the PBT of .162 BrAC. After medical staff cleared Durr, the officer arrested her and took her to the Missoula County Detention Center.
