Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) On October 1, 2026, a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was on patrol driving eastbound on Mullan Road. The deputy observed a white Ford Ecoline driving in front of him. The deputy ran the Ford’s plate number, which returned to 58-year-old Scott Trochman as the registered owner. The deputy also learned that Trochman’s driver’s license was revoked out of Montana. The deputy believed Trochman was the driver and initiated a traffic stop.

The Ford turned onto East Broadway and eventually pulled over in a parking lot. Once Trochman pulled over, the deputy exited his vehicle and contacted the driver, who was confirmed to be Trochman. The deputy and Trochman began speaking about the stop, and Trochman admitted that his license was revoked.

During the conversation, the deputy noticed that Trochman’s speech was slurred, and his eyes were watery and bloodshot. Trochman also appeared sensitive to light. The deputy asked Trochman if he previously consumed alcohol. Trochman said he drank some “chocolate crown” earlier in the day and said it was one drink.

Past Offenses and Probation Status

The deputy was aware that Trochman was on probation for felony DUI. Trochman was convicted of a 4th DUI and was sentenced to thirteen months in the Department of Corrections, followed by a three-year suspended sentence. Trochman was sentenced on March 26, 2025.

The deputy contacted the on-call probation officer. The on-call probation officer requested that the deputy conduct a PBT. The deputy said he would do that after conducting the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.

Trochman indicated six out of six clues of impairment on the HGN test. Trochman was provided with the instructions for the Walk and Turn test and One Leg Stand test. However, Trochman advised he did not believe he could physically perform either of these tests given physical ailments.

Then Trochman was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. He is currently being charged with felony DUI and driving with a revoked license. His bond was set at $10,000 for the 5th DUI and $75,000 for a probation violation.
