Appearing on Fox News with Martha McCallum on Tuesday night, Montana Senator Steve Daines spoke of his meeting with President Donald Trump earlier in the day and expressed his concerns that tax cuts must also apply to main street businesses as well as major corporations.

"31 years ago was the last time, when President Reagan led the charge for historic tax reform and tax cuts," said Daines. "This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity, a chance for us to get the economy going again. We've already got consumer confidence at a 17 year high last month, and the stock market continues to set records in anticipation of what we're going to do here on Capitol Hill with tax cuts."

McCallum asked Daines if Trump had turned his 'no' vote into a 'yes'.

"Based on what I heard tonight, the ball is moving i the right direction," he said. "I was a 'no' here yesterday, but had good discussions. We don't have this deal closed yet, but it's getting awfully close. I'm fighting on behalf of main street businesses. That's the voice that hasn't been heard loud enough here on Capitol Hill."

Daines was one of two Republican Senators who originally intended to vote 'no' on the Senate's tax cut bill.
