Man Gets $250,000 Bond After His 6th DUI Arrest
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 8, 2025, a Montana Highway Patrol trooper responded to a report of an erratic driver on Highway 93 in Missoula County. The registered owner of the vehicle was identified as 29-year-old Jonathan Duncan.
The trooper contacted the reporting party, who said she observed the vehicle behind her having difficulty maintaining its lane. The driver appeared to be nodding off as he was driving. They were traveling near Blue Mountain Road. While on the phone, she observed the vehicle turn northbound on Reserve Street, then turn onto a side street. The vehicle pulled into an apartment complex on Dearborn Ave.
Moments later, a Missoula Police Department officer located the vehicle as the driver was exiting. When the trooper arrived, he was advised by police that Duncan attempted to distance himself from the vehicle in an apparent attempt to conceal the fact that he had been driving. According to court documents, there were several open beer cans in the bed of the truck and a pistol on the center console.

The trooper made contact with Duncan, who denied consuming alcohol. The trooper had also pulled over Duncan the previous day. Duncan was a known habitual traffic offender with a revoked license, partly related to his prior DUI convictions.
Duncan showed multiple signs of impairment, including the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage from his breath, slurred speech, dazed expression, and heavy and watery eyes. Duncan participated in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and scored 16 out of 18 clues of impairment. Duncan provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .208 and later gave a breath sample on an Intoxilyzer with a result of .173.
