YMCA To Offer Free Child Care On Election Day
Election day is Tuesday, and the Missoula Family YMCA is offering safe, secure childcare for voters at no cost.
Marketing Coordinator for the YMCA Kat Franchino, said the free childcare is being offered nationwide.
"Our goal is to make sure that everyone who wants to vote has the opportunity to do so," Franchino said. "We know the lines at the polls can be very long, and if you have little kids, the 'Y' nationwide is offering what we call the 'Zoe's Day Out' Initiative, and it is free child care to voters."
Franchino provides more details.
"We'll be accepting children from six weeks to seven years in our Child Watch facility, and we have two blocks of time set aside," she said. "They are 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. anyone with a child in those age ranges can come and drop their kid off, go vote, and come pick their child up."
Franchino said for security reasons, children must be checked in by parents, grandparents or legal guardians, and ID is required for pickup.
