Montana is ranked as having the nation's highest workers compensation rates. Governor Brian Schweitzer signed HB 334 in April, a bipartisan bill that supporters say will bring historic reform to Montana's workers' compensation system. The Montana State Fund is the leading provider of workers' compensation insurance for Montana businesses and their employees. Through its safety and return-to-work programs, the organization works to improve the safety and well being of all working Montanans. The organization has been urging young workers to be safe on the job through their "don't be a jackass at work" campaign. Communication Director, Carl Kochman has these alarming injury rates.

Kochman says most of the work related injuries among young workers happen within the first five days.
