Woman Kicks Officer After Disturbance at a Missoula Store
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 8, 2025, shortly after 5:30 am, a Missoula Police Department officer responded to a call regarding a person to be removed from the Jackson Food Store. The report was that a female was banging on the doors of the business and attempting to force her way through the doors. The reporting party provided a description of the person as an older female with blonde hair, wearing black sweatpants and a maroon sweatshirt.
When the officer arrived on the scene, he learned that the female, later identified as 55-year-old Kelly Barry, had left on foot and was headed west. Barry was subsequently located in the area of South 14th Street West, near the Bitterroot Trail.
The officer activated his emergency lights, exited his patrol vehicle, and contacted Barry. The officer explained to Barry that she was not free to leave and put his hands up in a motion signifying that Barry was not permitted to walk past. The officer did not touch Barry.

As the officer was attempting to speak with Barry, she began speaking about random things, including god and being in the matrix. Barry was standing approximately a few feet away from the officer. Barry then took a step toward the officer, quickly lifted her leg, and kicked the officer in the shin, causing him pain.
Barry was then placed under arrest. Barry continued to speak about random things, and the officers also noticed a circular cut/bruise on Barry's forehead. These observations gave the officer concerns for Barry's well-being, and she was transported to St. Patrick's Hospital for medical clearance prior to being transported to the Missoula County Detention Center.
