HUNGRY HORSE, Mont. (AP) — A woman died in a fire at a trailer house in the northwestern Montana town of Hungry Horse.

Hungry Horse Fire Capt. Jared Lako tells the Hungry Horse News the fire was reported at about 8 p.m. Wednesday. Bad Rock Volunteer Fire Chief Kirk Katzenmeyer says flames were initially shooting 40 feet (12 meters) in the air and caught some nearby trees on fire, as well.

Katzenmeyer says the fire appears to have started in the kitchen, although the cause is still being investigated.

The woman's body was found near the back door, an indication she may have been trying to escape. Her name hasn't been released.
