Just before 3:00 Wednesday afternoon, Missoula police officer responded to a request for assistance by probation officers. The probation officers were in the 1500 block of McDonald Avenue. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“Our officers received information that the probation officers had an adult female in custody for a probation violation and that the probation officers were conducting a search of the residence,” Welsh said. “When the officers arrived, they were introduced to 49-year-old Melissa Ahronian and she was in custody for the violation.”

Probation officers explained the violation to police and gave them what they found during the search.

“They met with the probation officers who turned over a substance that they had discovered during the search that they believed was contraband and possibly methamphetamine,” Welsh said. “They also found items used to commonly ingest dangerous drugs. The substance was later confirmed to be methamphetamine.”

Ahronian was transported to the Missoula County Jail and she is currently being held for felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs, felony probation violation, and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the jail, this is the second of subsequent time Ahronian has been arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
