13 Reasons Why isn't your standard suicide story. Based on the novel by Jay Asher, the entire series is set up like a rather nightmare-like scavenger hunt, but instead of finding prizes, you are forced to re-live the crucial moments in a teen girl's life that ultimately led to her demise. The series was well designed, well produced and well casted. In a weird way you find yourself sympathizing with a lot of the characters on their 'tapes,' because when you take a step back, you remember that they are just kids. Like all of us at one point. But these kids, with their words and their actions, were unknowingly apart of the destruction of their friend/ex-girlfriend/classmate/lover...
Personally I feel like 13 Reasons Why is a heartbreaking story, but it opens up the dialogue of suicide in a way that no other series or movie has ever accomplished. While the premise may be dark, I think it's an incredible watch and definitely worth the time...
