A man attending the Salish and Kootenai College, 34 year-old Melvin Lucei was charged in Missoula Justice Court on Monday with felony sexual assault and sexual intercourse without consent for allegedly having sexual contact with two sisters under the age of 16.

According to court documents, the two girls are daughters of Lucei's girlfriend. It is alleged that on the night of February 3rd was intoxicated and touched the two girls inappropriately. The girls were examined at First Step and when told of the disclosures by the two girls, the mother stated that 'the girls would not make something like this up, and indicated she believed them.'

At his appearance in Missoula Justice Court, Deputy County Attorney Selene Koepke explained to acting Justice of the Peace Travis Dye why she was asking for Lucei to be held on $50,000 bond.

"The defendant has a significant criminal history out of the state of Washington which includes a burglary and felony vehicular assault," Koepke said. "He also appears to have a number of probation violations on his record. Given his out-of-state ties and the minimum sentence for the charges he's facing, the state believes he's a flight risk."

Judge Dye set bail for Lucei at $25,000, and ordered him to have no contact with the woman and her two daughters. His next court appearance will be February 24.
