MPD Arrest Wanted Man Trying To Catch A Bus
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On August 24, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Missoula Police Department officers responded to the area of the Nickel Ante Casino in the 1900 block of Sherwood for a search of a male with a warrant. The male, 57-year-old Daniel Garza, was reported to be in the area and was possibly attempting to leave the Missoula area by the adjacent Jefferson Lines bus. Garza had two active arrest warrants, one in the amount of $20,000.
When officers arrived, they began speaking with a Jefferson Lines employee regarding Garza and discovered a male with the name of “Daniel Green” had just purchased a bus ticket to Moses Lake, WA. “Daniel Green” had paid in cash and asked to stay at the bus terminal.
Shortly after relaying this information, Officers located a male believed to be Garza in the parking lot of the Nickel Ante Casino. Officers instantly observed the male to be Garza. As officers began speaking with Garza, he provided an officer with the name of “Jared Kolkofsky”, which, after a records check, returned no file.

Officers Officially Identify Garza
The officer requested that Garza provide an ID, and Garza claimed he did not have one and was out of Washington. After conferring with Garza’s local information, his identity was confirmed through booking photos and tattoo descriptions.
Garza was then placed under arrest and escorted to a patrol vehicle, where a search incident to arrest was performed. As an officer was assisting in the search, he began at Garza’s right pocket. As this occurred, Garza attempted to reach into the pocket several times.
The officer removed Garza’s wallet, and Garza again attempted to reach into the pocket. The search incident to arrest then yielded what appeared to be a methamphetamine pipe removed from one of Garza’s other pockets.

Officer Locates Methamphetamine
As the officer continued the search, Garza continued to manipulate back into his pants. The officer told Garza to stop multiple times before reaching into the pocket where he retrieved a small baggie.
Garza, unprovoked, informed the officer that the items were “dope.” The officer removed the suspected methamphetamine from Garza’s possession and seized it pending further investigation. The suspected methamphetamine was then tested via TruNarc, which returned positive as methamphetamine.
Garza was arrested and transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. He is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and obstructing a peace officer. His bond was set at $40,000.
