There were some frightening moments in the air between Denver and Billings on Monday, February 17.

A United Air Lines 737 was forced to make an emergency landing in Billings at about 1:30 p.m., in which five people, including three flight attendants were hospitalized after encountering severe turbulence.

One woman who was not buckled into her seat recalled that she was thrown upwards so hard that her head cracked the cabin's ceiling. Another woman who was holding a baby, screamed as the child was thrown out of her lap due to the force of the turbulence,

The captain of flight 1676 declared the landing at Logan International Airport to be a medical emergency, with 114 passengers and five crew members aboard.

A local hospital confirmed that of the five persons admitted, only one crew member remained hospitalized.
