A 22-year-old University of Montana student who authorities say brought a condom to a meeting involving what he thought would be a 14-year-old girl has been charged with sexual abuse of children.

Shinya Abe is accused of chatting online about sex Tuesday afternoon with what he thought was a teenager, but the girl turned out to be an undercover detective with the Missoula Police Department.

Abe allegedly told the "girl" he was 22 years old and he was fine with her age.

Prosecutors say that after an email and text message exchange, Abe said he wanted to meet and agreed to bring a condom.

Authorities say he showed up at the meeting place Tuesday evening and was arrested.

He was released Tuesday night.
