Trespasser Drinks Stolen Wine, Falls Asleep at a Missoula Store
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On February 14, 2024, Missoula Police Department officers were dispatched to Yokes Fresh Market on W. Broadway for a report of a theft and trespassing. A male, later identified as 35-year-old Jake Doornek, had been previously trespassed from the location. Doornek was most recently trespassed on February 7, 2024, after shoplifting from that location five days earlier. That case is pending in Missoula Municipal Court.
A Yokes employee reported that Doornek was sitting at a table at the front of the store. According to court documents, Doornek was asleep with a box of wine on the table with him. The officer picked up the wine box and it was empty.
Another employee showed the officer surveillance video. Doornek is observed going to a wine aisle, selecting two yellow boxes of wine, and concealing one in his coat. He then walked to the table where he was found. The empty box of wine matches the box that Doonek is observed taking.
The officer was advised that Doornek had stolen items from the store many times. He was caught recently and was permanently trespassed. Doornek was cited on February 2, 2024, for theft from this location. That case is pending in Municipal Court. Since he was trespassed, Doornek has returned to the store multiple times, however, they usually catch him at the door.
Doornek would not wake up and appeared to be extremely intoxicated. Officers called for medical due to his unresponsiveness and he was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. When he was cleared, he was placed under arrest and taken to the Missoula County Detention Center.
He is currently being charged with felony burglary. Court documents indicate he currently has five theft cases pending in Municipal Court.
