KGVO’s Talk Back hosted state leaders from both political parties on Tuesday, and following State Democratic Chair Robyn Driscoll, it was State Republican Party Chair Don Kaltschmidt’s turn for commentary.

At a press conference in Missoula on Friday, Green Party spokesperson Danielle Breck confirmed that the Montana Republican Party has officially thrown their support for the party against the Montana Democrats who are challenging the legitimacy of petitions to place Green Party candidates on the ballot.

The Montana Republican Party meets later this month to elect its officers, among them, a party chairman, an office currently held by Will Deschamps of Missoula.

Three prominent Republicans have joined forces in opposition to fellow Republican Ryan Zinke’s bid for Congress.

The announcement on Saturday is that former governor Brian Schweitzer would not be seeking the U.S. Senate seat held by the retiring Max Baucus, sent shock waves through both the Democratic and Republican parties.

At the close of last week's legislative session, much was made in the media concerning dissension in the ranks of Montana's Republican legislators, especially due to leaked emails from leaders seeking to oust more moderate members.
