Bureau of Land Management officials have announced that two Holter Lake recreation sites will close for maintenance work for about 10 days in August. The work will involve chip sealing and corrective maintenance of all asphalt surfaces and restriping at Log Gulch and Departure Point. This will require closure of the campgrounds and boat launch. The actual contract period is Aug. 8-23.

“While we’re always reluctant to close our sites during the peak summer season, the work must be done during hot weather in order to ensure success,” said Brad Rixford of the BLM’s Butte Field Office. “On the plus side, once the paving is done, the public will have long-term, protected surfaces to drive on when they come to these two sites on the lake.”

The BLM hopes the work can be expedited in order to minimize actual closure times.
