Sharia Law, Muslim Culture and Islam

The discussion continues about what is important for the western world to understand about Islam, Muslim culture and Sharia Law. Many in the audience don't care to hear anything about what these topics mean and many argue that knowledge is power. I'm wondering what you think on either side of the topic and why you hold that particular opinion.
