A reward of $5,000 has been offered in the case of a Helena quarter horse shot dead in her corral.

The reward comes from the Humane Society of the United States. The Montana state Humane Society director tells the Independent Record (hope.ly/1wJHyhE) that the horse's death was a "senseless act of cruelty."

Police suspect a confused hunter may have shot and killed the albino horse. The animal was worth about $5,000.

The horse's owner found the animal dead Sunday morning. Police suspect the shooting occurred sometime last weekend.
