Upon arrival, the officers encountered a male armed with a handgun. The male was related to the initial report of a robbery. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation with verbal commands and dialogue. Ultimately, the threat posed by the male subject caused the officers to make a decision to defend themselves and the male was shot. The officers immediately began life saving measures; however the male was later pronounced dead at St. Patrick Hospital. None of the MPD Officers were injured. The officers directly involved have been placed on administrative leave with pay per MPD Policy.
