The Missoula YMCA is holding their 48th annual Riverbank Run on April 25. The race is a Missoula staple, drawing thousands of participants each year. KGVO News spoke with Keri McHugh, director of the Riverbank Run, who told us about this year’s race.

McHugh says that the race sees growth each year, and she hopes that this year will see a similar trend. There’s no reason not to participate: McHugh says that there are a variety of races, with one for everybody.

“Way back in the day, it used to be put on by a local bank, and it used to be called the Bank Run. [The YMCA] has taken it over and continued the tradition. The thing that I love about the Riverbank Run is that there’s a race for every person out there, whether you’re a hardcore runner and you do our Trifecta, where you run all three of our events; maybe it’s your first 5k; if you’re training for a marathon, then you want to do our 10k; and then we get a ton of kids and families out for out one-mile Fun Run.”

Fees for the Riverbank Run are cheapest right now through the end of February, with prices varying between $15 for youth to $63 for a family pass. Prices will increase in March, so McHugh urges runners to take advantage of this month’s "early bird" pricing.

All fees for the Riverbank Run go towards the Missoula YMCA.

“We’re pretty proud of this event over at the YMCA, because all the proceeds and the runner’s fees stay right here at out Missoula, Montana, at our Y,” McHugh stated.

“They help everybody who becomes a part of the Y, whether that’s through swimming lessons or summer camps, through memberships, or even if you need a break and want to sit in our Welcome Center and have a cup of coffee. All of the proceeds stay right here in Missoula to make Missoula healthier.”
