Record High Temperatures in Butte – 105 degrees in Stevensville [AUDIO]

Tuesday was the hottest day in years in several Montana communities. The National Weather Service reported early Wednesday morning that Butte broke a record, and temperatures went well over 100 degrees in Missoula and Stevensville.

Forecaster LeAnne Allegretto said Butte set a new record on Tuesday.

"A record high temperature of 95 degrees was set in Butte on Tuesday, and that breaks the old record of 93 degrees set in 1996," Allegretto said."In Missoula, we recorded 101 degrees here at the airport, but 102 was the record."

Allegretto said temperatures in the Bitterroot also soared on Tuesday.

"Stevensville was the winner with 105 degrees, down in Sula they got up to 97 degrees and Corvallis reached 98 degrees, as well."

Allegretto said temperatures will drop to near normal, in the 80's to low 90's by the time the Fourth of July holiday weekend arrives.
