The National Weather Service is warning that extremely hot weather with temperatures in the mid to upper 90’s is expected next week, along with a chance of accompanying thunderstorms.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Alex Lukenbeal in Missoula said a powerful high pressure system is settling over western Montana with temperatures getting near the mid 90’s.
In the next few days, the National Weather Service is calling for temperatures to top 100 degrees in western Montana, bringing with them high fire danger.
With temperatures in Arizona and parts of California over 120 degrees, an environmental group in Montana is urging government officials to embrace renewable energy.
Tuesday was the hottest day in years in several Montana communities. The National Weather Service reported early Wednesday morning that Butte broke a record, and temperatures went well over 100 degrees in Missoula and Stevensville.
