Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On December 6, 2024, a Missoula Police Department Officer was dispatched to the Adult Probation and Parole Office. Narcotics were located in a vehicle that a probationer had driven to a probation check-in appointment. The PO showed the officer two small clear baggies containing a white powdery like substance that the officer believed was cocaine.

The PO found the baggies in a Marlboro 100s cigarette case in the driver’s side door compartment. The officer also observed numerous rounds of .22 caliber ammunition in the vehicle. Then the officer made contact with the probationer, Ysidro Hernandez. The officer advised Hernandez of his Miranda Rights. Hernandez stated that he understood and agreed to speak with the officer.

Hernandez stated that he drove the vehicle to his appointment with probation, even though the vehicle was not registered to him. When asked about the ammunition in the vehicle Hernandez acknowledged that it was his. The officer asked Hernadez about the Marlboro 100s cigarette case. Hernandez stated that he knew they were in the vehicle and where they were located, but they did not belong to him.

When asked why he had refused to provide a UA to probation as requested, Hernandez stated that he would test positive for alcohol, and then acknowledged that he would probably test positive for cocaine. The officer accompanied Adult Probation and Parole officers as they went to Hernandez’s residence to conduct a search.

During the search of Hernandez’s room, the officer located a small torn plastic baggie in the trash can located at the head of the bed. The baggie was similar to the two baggies located in the vehicle. The officer observed a small amount of white powdery substance left in the baggie.

Then the officer ran a diagnostic test on each baggie using the Tru Narc Spectrometer. According to court documents, both baggies’ tests resulted in the detection of cocaine. The officer then NIK tested the residue in the third baggie taken from Hernandez’s bedroom garbage. That test resulted in a presumptive positive for cocaine.

Hernandez was placed under arrest and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. He is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
