Parking Meter Fines May Increase Soon….By A Lot

Attention downtown parking meter scofflaws, the pain of those parking tickets may be going higher..much higher. Parking Commission Director Anne Guest says a consultant has recommended a graduated increase in the fines for not plugging the parking meter..starting at $5, then increasing by $5 for each violation, until the fine reaches $20 per violation.

Guest says the fines for overtime violations will also increase at the same rate. The City Council is mulling over the recommendations, and Guest expects a final decision sometime in June.
