At around 11:15 Wednesday night, a Missoula police officer was driving through a parking lot at a local hotel in the 3800 block of Brooks Street. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the officer noticed something suspicious.

“He observed an individual climbing through the window of a ground floor room,” Welsh said. “The officer made contact with the hotel staff who requested that he make contact with the room occupants to determine if they were actually legitimate guests or otherwise trespassing in the room.”

Welsh says the officer approached the room and identified one woman who was inside. The officer ended up arresting the woman for a handful of charges.

“The officer made contact with 27-year-old Shelbi Peters in the room and she was placed under arrest for outstanding felony warrants,” Welsh said. “During the course of the investigation, the officers also learned that Peters was in possession of marijuana and a substance that was later determined to be methamphetamine.”

Peters was transported to the Missoula County Jail where she is currently being held for three outstanding warrants, criminal possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
